Poros, an excuisite and verdant island of Argosaronikos, is found just 35.5 nautical miles away from Piraeus Port. Poros, named “Kalaureia” in the antiquity, attracts a lot of visitors thanks to its innumerable natural beauties, the sights, and the splendid picturesque beaches.

The verdurous inland, the blue sea, the traditional cots and the paved cobbled roads rejoice the visitor.

Poros is the capital and also the port of the island, which is amphitheatrically built opposite of coasts of Peloponnese. The neoclassic architecture of houses enthralls the visitor.


In Poros, there are many important sights. The Historical Clock which overlooks on the highest top of the hill was built in 1927 and constitutes the gem of the town. In town centre, you can visit the Archeological Museum, where finds are exhibited, dated from Mycenaean to Roman Age, as well as the Town Library.


Northwest of Poros town, the Gymnasium, the first residence of Othonas is situated. In the north side of the island, in Palatia, there are the ruins of the Dorian temple of Poseidon. Near, the relics of the Russian Naval Station, which has been characterized as an historical preservable monument, are saved.

Enjoy the nature, breathing fresh air with a walk through Kalaureia forest.

You can also visit the Monastery of Zoodohos Pigi, which, built on a verdurous slope, gives an excellent view of the sea-at the entrance, there is a spring famous of its therapeutic influence, and inside the church there is an italic style temple of 16 th century and a portable icon of Virgin Mary, work of Italian painter Sekoli-as well as the cathedral of Saint Georgios with the wonderful murals.

Poros, in spite of its small area, has got many beautiful beaches, where you can enjoy the sun and the sea. Mikro Neorio, Megalo Neorio, Askeli, Monastery, Small port of Love, Vagionia, each beach more beautiful and more picturesque than the rest, with the consistency of sea and pine, promise you moments of relaxation as well as of entertainment. At many beaches, there are taverns, restaurants, hotels, bars and sea sports facilities.

You must not miss the Nautical Week, an event, organized during the summer months.

Poros, with the great picturesqueness, the numerous sights, the luxuriant vegetation, the beautiful sandy beaches and the modern touristic infrastructure is an earthly paradise that invites you to know it closely.



How you can get there

Coastally:
Ferry Boats, catamaran and flying dolphins depart daily from Piraeus Port to Poros. The duration of trip by ferry boat is 2,30 hours and the duration of the trip by flying dolphins is 1,30 hours. Poros is connected with all the Saronic Islands such as with Nafplio, Ermioni, Epidavro and Porto Heli.

Roadly: You can also go roadly to Poros via the road of Nafplio and Galatas. There is a ferry boat to Poros.
