Ionian Islands or Eptanisa is an island area of Greece which includes the islands that are situated out of Ipirus' and of west and south Peloponnese's coasts. These islands are Corfu, Paxi, Lefkada, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Kythira and their neighboring islets.
Ionian Islands don't constitute geographically a united group, because Kythira is between south Peloponnese and Crete, but they had had a common historical course for a long time.
Ionian Islands' economy is mainly based on agriculture that is different from island to island. Their principal agricultural products are oil, grapes, wine, greens, garden produce, currant, citrus fruits, melons, watermelons, fruits and dried fruits. The beautiful island of Lefkada is the only island that has got road access, as it is linked to Aitoloakarnania by a floating bridge. Very near to Lefkada, opposite Nydri, Scorpios, the island of Greek magnate Aristotelis Onasis, is found.
Although Paxi is a small island, it has a cosmopolitan character. The whole island is an immense olive grove and is famous for its excellent quality oil.
