Monemvasia, is located in the eastern arm of southern Peloponenese. Its name means "One-Entry" because thereis only one way to reach the town from Peloponnese, that in Medieval times turned the town into a natural stronghold.
Today acauseway bridges the gap that separates the former peninsula from the mainland and leads into a unique intact medieval city. The architecture of the houses betrays a strong Venetian influence, with all the balconies overlooking the sea.
On the top of the rock stands the Castle with the chruch of Agia Sophia.
