The castle: It is a huge rock in the sea offering panoramic view, on which the medieval town of the island was situated. It is approximately an hour from the town by car or boat.
Bourtzi: It is a small peninsula, which divides the harbour in two, it was encircled and had battlements and embrasures. Nowadays it is an area full of pine trees with a few remnants of the walls left.
You should also visit the Monasteries of Panagia (Virgin Mary) Ikonistra, Evagelismos Theotokou (Annunciation of Virgin Mary) and the churches of Christ, Agia Anastasia, Agios Nikolaos.
Beaches of Skiathos
In Skiathos there are numerous beaches with the most well known Koukounaries. Other ones are Vasilias, Megali Ammos, Achladias, Tzanerias, kanapitsa, Troulos, Agia Paraskevi, Vromolimnos. West of koukounaries beach are Banana, Mikri Krassa, Aselinos, Agia Eleni and in the North the exotic Mandraki. Boats can take the vistors to Galazia and Skotini Spilia, to Lalaria a wonderful beach with white round pebbles, to Tripia Petra, to Kastro and to the small islands Tsougrias, Arkos etc.
HOW TO GET THERE
By aeroplane: Skiathos has its own airport which caters to international charter flights as well as local flights. There are daily flights from Athens in summer and 2-3 times weekly in the winter. The flight lasts 35 minutes . Frequent charter flights connect Skiathos with many European cities from May until the end of October.
By Flying Dolphins: From Agios Konstantinos (trip duration 1hour and 20 min.) From Volos many daily (trip duration 1 hour and 15 min.) From Thessaloniki , daily in summer.
By Ferry-boats: From Agios Konstantinos, daily in summer (trip duration 3 hours). From Volos daily in both summer and winter (trip duration 2 hours and 30min). From Thessaloniki 3 times a week in the summer.
