In a small distance from Paros (30 minutes from Parikia and 6 minutes from Pounta), is located the small but very beautiful island Antiparos.

Antiparos is a brilliant white ensemble, awash with vivid brushstrokes in the deep-blue Aegean Sea. It is a historic place of global interest. Monuments and symbols speak to us of the figures that once lived on the island, creators of the singular Cycladic civilization, creators of its history.

One of the most beautiful caves in the world lies in the center of the island. On the stalactites and stalagmites one can see and read the past. It is now known that this cave also served as the natural shelter of man in Neolithic times and later on, as a place of worship. This cave of Antiparos is of great historical beauty as well as a link among the history of the island.

Today, thousands of tourists visit the island every year, in order to admire the cave, this rare jewel of Antiparos, and places of archaeological interest, to enjoy the outstanding view that can be found scattered in every corner of our island, the beautiful, clean beaches, picturesque slab-paved alleys, savoury traditional food, fresh fish, grilled octopus, local meat, and the magnificent wines and tsikoudia (raki) of Antiparos. For lovers of nightlife there are many bars and discos to choose from. But, above all, one finds warmth, kindness and hospitality on the part of the inhabitants of the island, qualities that guarantee your stay will remain unforgettable.

At Neolithic community (dated back to 4000 B.C) was discovered at Saliaga, findings of which can be seen exhibited today at the archaeological museum of Paroikia. At Despotiko which remains today an uninhabited island, opposite Agios Georgios, many excavations are taking place at the region of Mantra, bringing to the light such great findings archaeologists believe that Despotiko will be declared an Archaeological Park.

The Venetian Castle of Antiparos was built in 1440, to protect the local inhabitants from the pirates who so often invaded the island. In the walls of the medieval castle three little churches can be found, St. Antonios, “Christos” and St. John the Beheaded. Wandering around the village you discover numerous post Byzantine churches of Cycladic style.

Famous beaches in Antiparos are: Psaraliki 1 and 2 Panagia, Theologo, Sifneiko, Glyfa, Soros, Apantima, Ai Giorgis, Livadia, Faneromeni.

How to get there
By Ferry: There are itineraries from Parikia or Pounta. Duration of the trip from Parikia: 1hour approximately and from Pounta 15minutes.
